Lot 602: A Solitaire Ring in a Schild & Son Ltd Vintage Presentation Box
A solitaire ring featuring a single large round brilliant-cut colourless stone. The stone is secured in a four-prong claw setting on a plain white metal shank. The interior of the shank is fitted with two spherical sizing beads to assist with fit and prevent rotation. No hallmarks are visible on the band. The ring is presented in a vintage blue leatherette box with gold-tone decorative tooling and a metal latch. The cream silk lining of the lid is printed with the following: WATCHMAKERS & JEWELLERS, ESTD 1859, SCHILD & SON LTD., 10. Bull Street., BIRMINGHAM. The ring is similar in design to the Vanderbilt Jewel solitaire. The ring size is not indicated.
Condition report:
The ring is in good overall condition with minor surface scratches to the metal. The presentation box shows age-related wear to the exterior, oxidation to the metal latch, and staining to the interior silk lining.
