March timed auction
A devotional pendant designed in the form of a Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheel, known as a mani chos ‘khor. The cylindrical body features a central band of raised Tibetan Uchen script representing the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum. The upper and lower caps of the cylinder are decorated with embossed foliate and floral motifs. The pendant is suspended from a fine snake-link chain with a lobster-claw clasp. The item is constructed from a yellow-toned metal, likely silver-gilt or a base metal with a gold-coloured wash. The central cylinder is designed to rotate on a central axis.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of wear and age, with significant surface tarnish and oxidation present in the recessed areas of the script and embossed decoration. There is visible wear to the yellow-toned surface finish on both the pendant and the chain. The rotation of the prayer wheel mechanism has not been tested.
