March timed auction
This lot comprises three cutting tools including two pairs of vintage forged steel shears and one folding multi-tool pocket knife. The first pair of shears features rounded finger loops and tapered blades, with the stamped marks SHEFFIELD ENGLAND visible near the pivot point. The second pair of shears is of a similar robust design with thicker shanks, featuring the stamped marks SHEFFIELD ENGLAND arranged in an arc near the pivot. Based on market consensus for this specific form and the short, notched blade profile, these items are identified as buttonhole scissors. The third item is a modern multi-tool pocket knife featuring textured silver-tone metal scales resembling the Alox style. It is equipped with stainless steel tools, including a deployed pair of spring-action scissors. Marks are present on the tang of the scissor tool but are illegible.
Condition report:
The first pair of Sheffield shears exhibits a dark patina and minor surface pitting consistent with age and utilitarian use. The second pair of Sheffield shears shows significant surface oxidisation and rust throughout the entirety of the tool. The multi-tool pocket knife is in good used condition with light surface scratches to the scales and tools. All items appear mechanically functional but would benefit from professional cleaning and sharpening.
