A 19th Century Windsor Elm Wheelback Side Chair
A 19th-century Windsor side chair featuring a classic hoop back design with a central decorative pierced wheel splat flanked by vertical spindles. The chair is constructed with a contoured elm seat displaying a distinct swirling grain pattern, set into a dark-finished frame. A small paper inventory sticker bearing the numbers 20 2 308 is adhered to the outer edge of the back rail. The design is characteristic of traditional English regional furniture.
The chair shows visible signs of age and functional wear. There is significant finish loss and thinning along the top rail and peripheral edges. Surface scuffs, scratches, and general dust accumulation are present. The timber exhibits a natural aged patina with various minor marks consistent with long-term domestic use.
