A set comprising a pair of vintage rimless pince-nez eyeglasses and a coordinating tortoiseshell-patterned case. The pince-nez are constructed with a gold-toned bridge and spring mechanism, featuring an attached fine-link chain terminating in a hook. The case is lined with a buff-coloured textile and is fitted with a 9-carat gold hinge. The interior hinge is struck with hallmarks including the maker mark H&A for Horton & Allday, the 9 . 375 gold standard mark, and the Birmingham anchor assay mark.
The items exhibit minor surface scuffing and light scratches to the case consistent with age and use. The set appears to be in good overall condition.
