The pince-nez are constructed with a gold-toned bridge and spring mechanism, featuring an attached fine-link chain terminating in a hook. The case is lined with a buff-coloured textile and is fitted with a 9-carat gold hinge. The interior hinge is struck with hallmarks including the maker mark H&A for Horton & Allday, the 9 . 375 gold standard mark, and the Birmingham anchor assay mark.
