Lot 633: A 9k Gold Folding Lorgnette Retailed by F. Hamlin of Eastbourne ( 30.4G )
A 9k gold lorgnette featuring two circular lenses connected by a folding bridge mechanism. The piece is constructed with an elongated, tapered handle decorated with pierced geometric openwork and terminates in a small circular suspension loop. The lorgnette is presented in a custom-shaped hard case with a dark purple velvet-lined base. The interior lid lining is white silk and bears the gold-stamped inscription F. HAMLIN F.B.O.A. OPHTHALMIC OPTICIAN EASTBOURNE.
Condition report:
The lorgnette is in good condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. The folding mechanism is functional. The fitted case shows significant external scuffing and fraying to the interior silk lining.
