A 19th-century topographical steel engraving titled East India House, Leadenhall Street, after the drawing by Thomas H. Shepherd and engraved by W. Watkins. The work depicts the Neoclassical facade of the East India Company headquarters with various figures and horse-drawn carriages in the foreground. The plate bears printed inscriptions attributing the original drawing to Thomas H. Shepherd and the engraving to W. Watkins. The print is presented within an off-white mount and housed in a black frame featuring a decorative gilt-beaded inner slip. The work is glazed.
Condition report:
The item is in fair condition. There is evidence of light tonal ageing to the paper and minor foxing is visible on the mount. Auction stickers are present on the glass surface. The work has not been examined out of the frame.
