Lot 378: Brass Fireplace Accessories
A group of polished brass fireplace accessories comprising a companion set and a coal scuttle. The companion set features a stand with a looping upright support on a circular base. The set includes a shovel, a brush, a pair of tongs, and a poker, each finished with decorative geometric handles. The coal scuttle is of traditional helmet form with a curved overhead handle and a smaller rear handle. The scuttle contains several coal briquettes.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit signs of use and wear consistent with functional application. There is visible tarnish and surface oxidation, particularly to the working ends of the fireplace tools. General surface scratching and minor pitting are present across the brass surfaces. An orange adhesive label is present on the handle of the companion set.
