Lot 346: An Antique 19th Century Staffordshire Pottery Harvest Couple Flatback Figurine
A 19th-century Staffordshire glazed ceramic flatback figurine depicting a harvest couple in period costume on a single moulded base. The female figure is portrayed carrying a large, striped bundle upon her head, while the male figure stands alongside wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a patterned waistcoat. The piece is finished with a pearlescent lustre glaze and features hand-painted polychrome accents. Modern identification stickers numbered 346 and 7 are adhered to the base and the male figure’s shoulder.
Condition report:
The figurine shows fine crazing across the glaze consistent with age. There is minor surface wear and visible losses to the hand-painted polychrome decoration.
