A monochrome engraving titled L’Usurière depicting a genre scene of a figure counting coins at a table. The print is an after-work based on a composition by David Teniers the Younger, as indicated by the inscription D. Teniers pinx. to the lower left. The plate was executed by the engraver P. Serruys, noted by the inscription P. Serruys sculp. to the lower right. Below the title, the work includes four lines of moralising French verse regarding the consequences of greed. The piece is mounted within a wide cream-coloured mat and set in a dark, stepped wooden frame with a gilded beaded inner slip. Two auction labels are present on the glazing and frame.
Condition report:
The print appears in good condition with light toning to the paper consistent with age. The frame exhibits minor surface scuffs and light wear to the edges.
