A Dutch Colonial rectangular box, likely a betel or jewellery box, featuring creamy panels of resin. The exterior is adorned with silver-toned metal hardware, including a foliate-scroll swing handle on the lid, an ornate pierced clasp, and protective corner brackets. The interior is fully lined with gathered red silk or satin fabric, with red fabric hinges connecting the lid and base. An orange adhesive lot tag numbered 222 is present on the exterior.
Condition report:
The box is in fair to good condition. There is minor surface wear to the exterior panels and oxidation to the metal components consistent with age. The interior fabric shows light wear but remains intact.
