FEBRUARY AUCTION
Lot 19:
A pair of hand-carved wooden bookends featuring elongated, minimalist giraffe figures. Each figure is mounted onto a rectangular wooden base. The wood is finished with a dark stain. The giraffes feature small, inlaid circular details representing the eyes. The construction exhibits a folk art aesthetic with simplified, stylised forms. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Both bookends show visible signs of age and wear consistent with use. Surface conditions include accumulated dust, light scuffs, and minor abrasions to the finish. Orange adhesive labels marked with the number 19 are affixed to both figures. One figure has a small amount of frayed material or debris on its upper back.
