Lot 114: A Collection of French Style Woven Rattan and Wicker Gathering Baskets
A collection of various woven rattan and wicker items, featuring a large primary gathering basket. The main vessel is constructed with a dark-stained lower body and natural-toned upper section, featuring stout twisted handles and a reinforced rim. Nested within the primary basket are several smaller woven pieces, including a basket with a red fabric lining and various shallow or lid-like components in natural fibre shades. The items are of rustic, utilitarian construction. An orange adhesive label numbered 114 and a small white label marked 4 4 are affixed to the rim of the largest basket.
Condition report:
The collection exhibits signs of age and utilitarian use. Visible surface dust is present across the items. There is minor wear and occasional fraying to the woven fibres consistent with handling and age.
