Lot 1:
A Collection of Vintage Metalware and Sundries including Follows and Bates Iron Components
An assortment of vintage and antique items comprising various materials and forms. The group features two heavy cast iron bars with multiple keyhole-shaped cutouts, identified as components for a Follows and Bates marmalade cutter. Also included is a copper mug with embossed vertical panel detailing and a fixed handle, and a boat-shaped brass vessel featuring a bird-form finial. The lot contains a small, round wooden box with a lid depicting a figurative scene in an illustrated style. These items are accompanied by a rectangular silver-toned wire mesh basket containing various metallic hardware fragments and decorative elements.
The collection exhibits a range of conditions. The iron components show significant surface oxidation and corrosion consistent with age. The copper and brass items display a polished patina with some minor surface wear. The wooden box shows light scuffing to the lid illustration. The wire mesh basket and calculator appear in used condition.
