This trio of hand-carved sculptures is fashioned from black gold sheen obsidian, a volcanic glass characterised by its chatoyant properties. The collection comprises a large male bust with stylised facial features and a carved headpiece, a slender elongated abstract human figure with deep horizontal ribbing, and a full-length female figure wearing a wide-brimmed hat and draped garments. Each sculpture is worked from a single block of stone and set upon an integral base. The material displays a distinct golden lustre within the dark stone when viewed under direct light. Visible markings include orange adhesive labels numbered 380 on each base and a small white label marked 21 21 on the head of the bust.
