This 19th-century Victorian woolwork needlepoint depicts a young boy, identified by historical precedent as the young Prince of Wales (later Edward VII), in traditional Scottish Highland attire. The figure is dressed in a kilt, sporran, and tam o’ shanter cap, positioned within a rural landscape with mountains in the background. The embroidery is executed in colored wool threads on a canvas ground. The piece is presented behind glass within a gold-toned arched mount and a secondary rectangular mat. It is housed in a decorative gilt-wood frame featuring ornate foliate and beaded moldings.
