Lot 188: A Reproduction Scrimshaw Cribbage Board Depicting The Whaler Delta
A reproduction scrimshaw cribbage board featuring the pattern of The Whaler Delta. The object is fashioned from a tapered, ivory-toned material designed to simulate walrus tusk or bone. The surface is decorated with detailed black-ink engravings. The central decorative panels depict multiple multi-masted sailing vessels, while the narrower end shows a scene with figures and a sled. Two parallel rows of small holes for game pegs run along the edges of the illustrated sections, which are framed by decorative geometric zigzag borders. An orange inventory tag marked 188 is present at the wider end.
