Timed auction of unsold lots from 10th December
Lot 236:
This lot comprises two philatelic albums. The smaller album is bound in green cloth and features a gold-embossed emblem on its cover, displaying the text “POSTAGE, ” “POST OFFICE, ” and “QUEEN VICTORIA” surrounding a profile portrait. Its interior contains pages filled with various British postage stamps from the Victorian era, many of which are used and bear the “POSTAGE” inscription. The larger album is dark blue and holds multiple pages of British stamps, notably including extensive sheets of small green stamps, many marked with “1/2p” (half penny), suggesting a collection from the Elizabethan era. The stamps within both albums appear to be in varied conditions, from canceled to seemingly unused examples.
