A Collection of British Royal Commemorative Ceramic Mugs and Cups, Mid-20th Century
A collection of six white glazed ceramic commemorative mugs and cups, primarily British Royal themed. The collection includes items commemorating the Coronation of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on “JUNE 2ND 1953,” the reign of “KING GEORGE VI & QUEEN ELIZABETH,” and a piece marked “1944” featuring crossed flags (Union Jack and Red Ensign). Several items display royal portraits, crowns, heraldic motifs including a lion rampant, and the Garter motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense.” One mug features a scalloped rim, and one item is a handleless cylindrical beaker.
