A Columbia Viva-Tonal Grafonola Portable Gramophone
A Columbia Viva-Tonal Grafonola portable gramophone, characteristic of the circa 1920s-1930s. The instrument is housed in a suitcase-style case with an exterior finished in a textured black material, likely a faux leather or coated fabric. The interior deck features dark-stained wood with a reddish-brown felt-covered turntable platter, and a metal tonearm and soundbox. Clearly visible text on the deck includes “Columbia Grafonola” and “Viva-tonal,” along with “REG. U.S. PAT.
