A pair of intricately carved decorative pieces of East Asian provenance, fashioned from a variegated natural stone, likely soap stone, displaying hues from creamy yellow and pale green to mottled brown. The lower object presents a horizontal composition featuring densely carved foliage with leaves and berry-like clusters, supported by a darker, openwork carved base. The upper, more complex piece depicts a dynamic scene with multiple deer intertwined with elaborate foliage and what appear to be lotus pods, potentially incorporating a central grotto or vase element. Both carvings exhibit fine detail, undercutting, and pierced work. An orange retail tag marked ‘266’ is visible on the lower piece, and a partially visible ’26x’ tag is on the upper piece.
