DECEMBER SALE
Lot 172:
A group of vintage Japanese lusterware tea service components, crafted from glazed ceramic. The items exhibit a lustrous, iridescent light brown or tan finish, decorated with hand-painted stylized floral motifs in red, blue, and green. The lot includes a stack of saucers, multiple teacups, a lidded teapot, and a smaller open vessel, likely a creamer or sugar bowl. Notably, at least one inverted teacup features a molded human-like face on its exterior base, characteristic of “geisha girl” or lithophane cups. Visible markings include orange rectangular tags displaying “172” (on a saucer and the teapot lid) and “173” (on a partially visible item), alongside white rectangular stickers marked “29” (on a saucer and the teapot body). Faint, illegible script is present on one of the stacked saucers, possibly a manufacturer’s mark or signature.
