A pair of hand-carved soapstone tea light candle holders. Crafted from a light greyish-beige soapstone, the lot comprises two intricately carved decorative objects. The first is a spherical openwork orb, featuring a continuous foliate pattern of leaves and vines, resting on a circular base with an incised border. The second is a sculpted figure resembling a caparisoned elephant, detailed with a howdah-like structure on its back surmounted by two stylized finials, and exhibiting openwork elements throughout its form, with a cross-hatch pattern on its base. Both pieces exhibit a consistent carving style.
