DECEMBER SALE
Lot 127:
A pair of East Asian water pipes, likely Chinese, featuring intricately decorated bone panels set within a dark metal framework, possibly brass or bronze. The larger pipe is cylindrical with a handle and an ornate filigree top, while the smaller pipe is a slender upright cylinder; both are equipped with slender metal smoking stems. Their white surfaces are adorned with delicate ink-wash style scenic and figural depictions. The base of one item displays a hand-painted inscription of four Chinese characters, “會賓宴月” (Huì Bīn Yàn Yuè), which translates to “Meeting Guests at a Moonlit Banquet.” Exhibiting an antique aesthetic, consistent with a late 19th to early 20th century dating.
