A group of three framed and matted photomechanical reproductions, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. Each print is presented under glass in a matching black frame with a gold-tone inner rim.
Two prints are colorized: one depicts a street scene with a police officer, a woman, and a man, accompanied by the partial lyrics to “PARODY OF GOOD-BYE, LITTLE GIRL, GOOD-BYE.” (“Don’t cry, little girl, don’t cry; Bye-and-bye, little girl, bye-and-bye, In my uniform of blue I’ll come marching back for you— Good-bye, little girl, good-bye.”); the second shows an interior scene with three figures, captioned “TEASING.” with corresponding lyrics (“Teasing—teasing—I was only teasing you Teasing—teasing—just to see what you would do (Of course you know, my heart is true) Always teasing—to find out if your love was true. Don’t be angry, I was only, only teasing you.”).
The third print is a black and white image of a man fitting a shoe on a woman in a shop, titled “FOL-THE-ROL-LOL.” with a descriptive poem (“In a bootmaker’s shop down at Luton, A young lady was pulling a boot on! When she fell on the ground, And the shopkeeper found That the girl had a bicycle suit on!”) and attributed to Fred Leigh, Fred Murray, George [illegible], and Grafton, Roy & Henley.
