Lot 526: A Modern British Sterling Silver Bookmark, Hallmarked 2000
A modern British sterling silver bookmark, rectangular with a rounded top, presented in a dark, possibly velvet-lined, display case. A blue and yellow braided cord tassel is attached through a hole at the top. The silver surface is marked with a series of British hallmarks: a maker’s mark ‘RC’ within an octagonal cartouche, the ‘925’ sterling silver standard mark within an oval, a crowned symbol (likely a rose or thistle) and a lion passant, each contained within octagonal cartouches. A final shield-shaped mark features a cross above the numerical inscription ‘200’, indicating the year 2000.
