Lot 508: A Group of Bank of England One Pound Notes, Sir Isaac Newton Series, with a Collection of British Circulated Coins
A group of Bank of England One Pound banknotes, featuring the portrait of Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727), characteristic of the Series E issue. The banknotes are presented in a plastic sleeve. Accompanying the banknotes are two clear plastic bags containing a collection of British circulated coins. These coins are predominantly copper or bronze, with visible examples featuring the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and pre-decimal denominations such as ‘PENNY’, suggesting a 20th-century origin. At least one silver-toned coin is also present. An orange sticker marked ‘S08’ and a white sticker marked ‘2##’ are affixed to the banknote sleeve.
