An 18th Century Oak Eight-Day Longcase Clock, signed W. Coles Charbury
An 18th Century Oak Eight-Day Longcase Clock, signed W. Coles Charbury. The traditional longcase clock is crafted from dark-stained hardwood, appearing to be oak. It features a square brass dial with a finely engraved central foliate boss, a silvered chapter ring displaying Roman numerals for hours and Arabic numerals for minutes, and ornate florally-engraved brass spandrels. The dial is clearly signed “W. Coles Charbury” below the XII. The lower section of the case has a plain wooden door with two external metal hinges and a subtle circular impression.
