OCTOBER SALE
Lot 2:
A Pair of Wedgwood Millennium Collection Mugs and a Pair of Crescent-Shaped Plates, crafted from bone china. Each piece features elaborate polychrome transfer-printed decoration on a pale blue ground with gold accents. The mugs depict various historical or technological themes, including a hot air balloon and a bell (likely the Liberty Bell), with visible text such as “LIBERTY” and “BOTANY BAY,” and numerous Roman numeral dates ranging from MDCCXCI (1791) to MDCCCXXX (1830) along their rims. The companion crescent plates exhibit a central sunburst motif within a field of scrolling patterns, bordered by a series of Roman numeral dates spanning from MDCCLXX (1770) to MDCCCXCIX (1899). The collection commemorates the millennium, drawing inspiration from 18th and 19th-century themes, and is presented in its original fitted dark blue box.
