OCTOBER SALE
Lot 120:
An English Regency rosewood tea caddy, circa 1810-1835, of sarcophagus form. The polished dark hardwood box, likely rosewood, features a rectangular base and a lid that tapers upwards to a flat central panel. An oval iridescent inlay, consistent with mother-of-pearl or abalone, adorns the lid. Accompanying the caddy is a pair of glazed ceramic figural jugs, each depicting a man’s head. One jug features a man wearing a grey top hat with a green band and has a handle shaped like opera glasses. The other jug depicts a man wearing a black hat with a subtle floral motif.
