A lot consisting of two pieces of British art pottery. The first is a Crown Ducal earthenware jug designed by Charlotte Rhead, featuring a wide mouth and a flared foot. The decoration consists of hand-trailed tube-lined stylized flowers in orange and yellow with blue outlines and borders. The handle and base are finished in a mottled green glaze. The underside is marked with a blue printed Crown Ducal England backstamp, a hand-painted Rhead signature, and painted numbers 190. and 2401. The second item is a SylvaC earthenware jug, model 560, molded in the form of a tree trunk with a branch handle and an applied green rabbit figure near the base. It is finished in a matte brown textured glaze with a green glaze to the rabbit. The base is marked in relief SYLVAC and MADE IN ENGLAND with an incised model number 560.
Condition report:
The Crown Ducal jug shows surface grime and shelf wear to the base. The SylvaC jug exhibits fine crazing to the base and a small glaze nick or chip to the underside of the base rim.
