Lot 44: Two Ceramic Figurines including a Bisque Porcelain Youth and a Hearty Good Fellow Toby Jug
Two ceramic figurines of contrasting styles and materials. The first is a bisque porcelain figure of a youth in 18th-century rustic dress, modelled wearing a broad-brimmed hat, white shirt, green waistcoat with gilded trim, and blue-green breeches decorated with hand-painted pink scrollwork. He stands barefoot on a naturalistic, mossy-textured base. The second is a glazed earthenware character figure in the traditional Hearty Good Fellow Toby style. He is depicted wearing a black and yellow tricorn hat, a maroon frock coat, yellow waistcoat, and blue breeches, holding a foaming mug of ale and a long clay pipe. Both items carry adhesive paper inventory labels with the printed number 7. No factory marks or backstamps are visible.
Condition report:
The bisque figure appears to be missing a component from the hands, likely a staff or walking stick. The Toby figure exhibits fine all-over crazing to the glaze and some minor enamel loss to the tricorn hat. Both items have adhesive labels attached directly to the surface.
