Lot 519: A Collection of UK Commemorative Cupro-Nickel Crowns and Coins
A collection of United Kingdom commemorative coinage, predominantly struck in cupro-nickel. The grouping contains several 1965 Winston Churchill crowns, a 1977 Silver Jubilee crown, a 1981 Royal Wedding crown featuring the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer, and a 1998 five-pound coin for the 50th birthday of the Prince of Wales. Also included is a 1953 Coronation crown and a bronze-toned coin of King George VI. Legend inscriptions include CHURCHILL, ELIZABETH II DG REG F D 1977, H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER 1981, and 1948 FIVE POUNDS 1998.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit circulated condition, ranging from fine to very fine. There is evident surface wear, light toning, and minor contact marks consistent with age and handling.
