Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of early to mid-20th-century British and Commonwealth military insignia mounted on two red display boards. The collection primarily consists of brass shoulder titles and metal cap badges. Identified brass shoulder titles include the Royal Horse Artillery (RHA), Royal Field Artillery (RFA), Royal Artillery (RA), Royal Engineers (RE), Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), Royal Army Service Corps (RASC), Army Service Corps (ASC), Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC), Corps of Military Police (CMP), Royal Defence Corps, and the Prince of Wales’s Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment) (PWVO). Commonwealth interest is represented by multiple sets of Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) titles. There are also titles for the Special Constabulary (SC).

The cap badges and other insignia include examples for the Royal Artillery (field gun), The Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), The Royal Sussex Regiment (large white metal Maltese cross), The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment, The Essex Regiment, and the Grenadier Guards. Also included is a blackened metal badge for the Rifle Brigade or King’s Royal Rifle Corps and various light infantry horn motifs. The items are fabricated from brass, white metal, bi-metal, and blackened metal.

Condition report:

The two red felt-covered display boards exhibit significant wear, tearing, and fading. The insignia show varying degrees of tarnish, oxidation including areas of verdigris to some brass items, and surface wear appropriate for their age. Lugs and sliders on the reverse of the items are likely present but may be bent or missing in some instances. One RHA title has the final letter separated from the others.
