Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises an assortment of mid-20th-century British military and civil service insignia, badges, and uniform accessories. Key identified pieces include a large circular embroidered cloth patch for the Civil Defence Corps, featuring a central lion and crown emblem in red and gold. The collection also contains multiple brass badges for the Women’s Voluntary Service (WVS), clearly visible in the provided detail images. A pair of black cloth shoulder boards is included, decorated with intricate silver or gold metallic wire braiding, likely pertaining to senior officer or naval rank. Other items in the lot consist of various bagged and loose brass military buttons and cap badges, some resembling British Staff Officer patterns. A short length of medal ribbon for the 1939-45 Star is present, along with a large white felt or wool textile item, possibly a naval cap cover. The entire collection is housed within a vintage purple Quality Street confectionery tin bearing a vendor label numbered 55.

Condition report:

The items are in vintage, used condition. Brass badges and buttons exhibit varying degrees of tarnishing and surface patina consistent with age. The embroidered cloth patches and metallic wire shoulder boards show minor wear and fraying. The white felt item shows light surface soiling. The lot is stored loosely and in clear plastic bags; it has not been fully inventoried for individual counts or specific unit identifications. Viewing is recommended to assess the full contents.
