An English Edwardian-style mahogany tabletop book trough, dating from the early 20th century. The piece is constructed from mahogany and features fine lightwood inlay stringing following the curved profile of the upright end panels. These shaped panels are connected by two longitudinal boards set at an angle to create a V-shaped support for a small collection of books. There are no visible manufacturer’s marks or stamps. A small two-part adhesive label is affixed to the front board with the numbers 15 and 4.40.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of age-related wear including surface scratches and scuffing. There are numerous small white paint splatters across the central boards and the end panels. Adhesive labels and associated residue are present on the front-facing board.
