A single child’s armchair of solid oak construction, designed in the Arts and Crafts vernacular style. The chair is of solid board construction with rounded edges throughout. It features a high, shaped backrest decorated with a large incised geometric diamond-shaped motif, comprising concentric borders and a central floral quatrefoil with stylised leaf points at the corners. The solid side panels are shaped to form integrated armrests with rounded terminals and continue down to form the supporting feet. The seat consists of a solid oak plank set between the side supports. The timber displays characteristic medullary ray grain patterns under a medium-toned finish. A modern yellow adhesive inventory label is present on the front edge of the seat. No maker’s marks or manufacturer labels are visible.
Condition report:
The chair appears to be in good, stable condition. There is general surface wear, including minor scuffs, nicks, and small scratches consistent with age and use as a piece of children\'s furniture. The finish shows some light signs of wear.
