This hand-forged wrought iron assembly is designed as a functional entryway accessory. The piece comprises a flat, octagonal iron base plate with pre-drilled holes for mounting. Welded to the base is a boot scraper formed from a horseshoe with a horizontal iron blade secured across the ends. Positioned beside the scraper is a tall, vertical steadying handle or grab rail, featuring a decorative twisted section to the mid-shaft and terminating in a large, teardrop-shaped open loop handle. The assembly is finished in a utilitarian black paint. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the object. Modern adhesive labels are present on the base plate, including a white sticker numbered 14 14 and an orange tag numbered 248.
Height: Approximately 90 cm – 100 cm.
Condition report:
The assembly is in sound structural condition. The black paint finish shows significant wear throughout, with surface oxidation and minor rusting visible on the handle loop, shaft, and base plate, typical for an outdoor utility item of this age.
