Lot 227: Two Novelty Items comprising a Ceramic Yellow Submarine Money Box and a Plush Matryoshka Style Toy
A lot consisting of two novelty items. The first is a money box in the form of a yellow submarine, designed in a style reminiscent of the Beatles animated film. It is constructed from glazed ceramic with a bright yellow finish and features three moulded portholes on the side, each displaying a cartoon-style face. The submarine includes a moulded periscope and tail fins. A grey plastic stopper is present in the base. The second item is a soft plush toy designed in the shape of a Matryoshka or Russian nesting doll. The figure features embroidered eyes, mouth, and hair, and is decorated with three felt flower appliques in brown, tan, and white. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible on either item.
Condition report:
The ceramic money box appears in good condition with the glaze remaining bright and no apparent chips or cracks. It retains a grey base stopper and has small adhesive auction labels to the body. The plush toy shows significant signs of age and wear, including prominent brown staining and discolouration to the fabric. There is minor fraying to the edges of the felt appliques. An adhesive auction label is attached to the front.
