An antique powder horn, likely of 19th-century manufacture, constructed from a polished bovine horn. The horn displays a natural colour transition from dark brown at the tip to a cream-coloured base. It is fitted with brass mounts, including a stepped dispensing nozzle at the narrow end and a brass-bound cap at the wide base, which is secured with screws. The piece is equipped with two brass suspension loops attached to the body, holding a simple, well-worn leather carrying strap. Two inventory stickers are present: a white rectangular sticker numbered 5 and an orange rectangular sticker numbered 182. Powder horns of this type were used as essential accessories for muzzle-loading firearms.
Condition report:
The item is in good antique condition, displaying natural surface variations and minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The brass fittings show a characteristic aged patina with some tarnishing. The leather strap is intact but shows significant signs of age and wear.
