Lot 174: Two vintage 1970s tan leather jackets including one by Tom Wolfe
This lot consists of two vintage 1970s tan leather jackets of varying styles.
The first item is a tan leather car coat or tailored jacket featuring wide notched lapels and a prominent horizontal chest yoke. It is constructed from supple tan-coloured leather and features a front closure with three large, dark brown horn-effect buttons and horizontal buttonholes. The jacket has two lower horizontal flap pockets and is fully lined with a dark brown synthetic fabric.
The second item is a tan leather tailored jacket bearing a black fabric label for Tom Wolfe. It features notched lapels and a two-button front closure with mottled brown buttons. The jacket is designed with two lower horizontal flap pockets and is lined with a mustard-gold coloured fabric. Both garments exhibit the broad lapels and structured tailoring characteristic of 1970s menswear.
Condition report:
Both jackets are in good vintage condition showing signs of age-related wear and regular use. The leather on both items exhibits creasing and surface scuffing, particularly at the collars, cuffs, and hemlines. The first jacket shows some light patination and minor surface marks consistent with its age. The interior linings appear intact with no significant tearing visible.
