Lot 96: A Collection of Glazed Ceramic Animal Figurines Including Ducks and a Seal
A collection of glazed ceramic animal figurines featuring avian and marine subjects. The assortment includes a large avian figure, possibly a goose, finished in a mottled sage green and grey glaze with a contrasting matte-finish beige beak. Also included is a small, rounded bird figurine with a cream-coloured base and reddish-brown speckled decoration, featuring simple painted facial details. A smaller duck figurine displays a mottled dark brown and tan glaze with a prominent gold-coloured metallic finish to the beak. The group is completed by a seal figurine in an upright pose, finished with a graduated two-tone drip glaze transitioning from honey-brown to dark chocolate brown. These pieces exhibit stylistic characteristics common to mid-20th-century British decorative potteries, though no maker’s marks are visible to confirm attribution. Multiple adhesive labels are present on the surfaces.
