Lot 781: Two neoclassical style female decorative busts
This lot consists of two decorative female busts of differing scales and materials. The smaller bust is rendered in white bisque porcelain in the style of Parian ware, depicting a young girl with her head inclined downwards and her hair styled with a bow. It is set upon an integrated stepped base. The larger bust is carved from a cream-coloured mottled stone, possibly alabaster, and depicts a classical female figure with a complex braided coiffure and draped shoulders, supported by a circular pedestal base. Both items are marked with orange auction labels numbered 781 and white labels numbered 2. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Smaller bust height: approximately 15cm – 20cm
Larger bust height: approximately 30cm – 35cm.
Condition report:
The bisque porcelain bust is in good overall condition with no visible chips or restoration. The larger stone bust displays significant surface mottling and natural staining consistent with the material, along with minor surface marks and age-related wear to the base.
