Lot 741: Lloyd Loom Style Woven Upholstered Blanket Box
A mid-20th century blanket box or ottoman in the style of Lloyd Loom. The piece is constructed from woven paper fibre over a wire and wooden frame, featuring a rectangular body with integral curved handles at each end. The hinged, padded lid is upholstered in a cream-coloured damask-style fabric decorated with circular floral motifs. The exterior is finished in a two-tone painted scheme consisting of a pale blue central field with gold-toned borders at the top and bottom edges, accented with decorative braided trim. The box stands on four short, turned wooden feet. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
Fair condition with signs of use consistent with age. There is noticeable rubbing and paint loss across the woven surface, handles, and feet. The decorative braided trim is fraying and detached in several places. The upholstery shows signs of ageing and light marking. Internal condition is unverified.
