Lot 714: A Framed Needlepoint Tapestry Picture of a Rural Figure
A framed needlepoint tapestry picture, depicting a figurative scene of a woman in traditional rural dress carrying baskets of produce or flowers. The scene is set against a background of village or farmstead architecture. The work is executed in coloured threads on a canvas ground. It is housed behind glass in a moulded gilt-finished wooden frame with a rope-twist inner border. Two inventory stickers are present on the upper left corner of the frame.
Condition report:
The frame exhibits general age-related wear including minor scuffs, dust, and small losses to the gilt finish along the edges. The needlework is in good condition with no apparent tears or loose threads, though some light fading may be present. There is significant reflection from the glass in the accompanying photograph.
