A large, utilitarian cooking pot, likely a stockpot or preserve pan, characteristic of mid-20th-century domestic or commercial kitchenware. The body is constructed from heavy-gauge cast aluminium with a rounded base and a slightly flared rim. It is fitted with a dark iron or steel swing bail handle. The handle is attached to the body via two curved brackets, each secured with four rivets, totalling eight rivets visible on the interior. The design and construction are reminiscent of mid-century manufacturers such as Guardian Service or Wear-Ever, although no maker’s marks or stamps are discernible on the visible surfaces. Two adhesive auction labels are present on the rim: a white label marked ‘7’ and an orange label marked ‘593’.
Condition report:
The item is in well-used condition. The interior aluminium surface exhibits significant scratching, general surface wear, and areas of pitting, particularly concentrated towards the base. The iron bail handle shows surface oxidation and rust consistent with age and use. The rivets and handle attachments remain structurally secure.
