Lot 502: A Pair of Mid-20th Century Style Red Painted Metal Garden Gates
A pair of decorative metal garden gates, constructed from wrought iron or mild steel. Each gate features a rectangular frame enclosing vertical pales, with elegant decorative C-scroll ironwork accents along both the top and bottom horizontal rails. One gate is fitted with a sliding bolt latch mechanism, and both units retain their side hinge pins. The gates are finished in a bright red paint, possibly an oxide primer. A small orange adhesive label marked 502 is present on the top rail of one gate, likely representing a previous lot number. These gates are characteristic of mid-century British residential architectural ironwork.
Condition report:
The gates are in used, functional condition with signs of weathering consistent with outdoor exposure. There is visible surface wear, paint loss, and areas of minor corrosion, particularly noted around the joints and lower sections of the frames.
