Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A small provincial table-top chest of drawers or stationery cabinet, likely of British origin dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece is constructed from a dark-stained wood with a prominent grain, such as oak or elm. The drawer configuration features an unusual arrangement of four drawers, including two small stacked drawers to one side and two larger vertical drawers, all with bevelled fronts. The cabinet is fitted with six pressed clear glass floral-style knobs. A decorative scalloped-edge gallery or splash-back is attached to the upper surface. The construction is solid and typical of provincial or apprentice work from this period. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are discernible on the piece.

Condition report:

The chest exhibits significant signs of age and wear consistent with use. There are numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and abrasions throughout. Visible losses to the dark stain and finish are present on several surfaces, particularly along the edges and drawer fronts. A small white auction sticker numbered 15 and a fragment of an orange tag are adhered to the exterior. The drawers appear to be in functional condition, although interior wear is present.
