Lot 237: A large brilliant cut glass centrepiece bowl with mounted metal rim
A heavy circular centrepiece bowl of lead crystal construction, featuring a deeply cut exterior in the brilliant style. The decorative scheme includes large multi-pointed hobstars separated by panels of strawberry diamond cross-hatching and vertical fanned mitre cuts. This pattern is closely associated with the Russian pattern produced during the American Brilliant Period and by European makers in the late 19th century. The piece is finished with a mounted metal rim that shows heavy oxidation and tarnish. Two inventory stickers are present on the body, marked with the numeral 2 and the handwritten digits 237. No manufacturer signatures, marks, or metal hallmarks are visible.
Condition report:
The glass is in good overall condition with no significant chips or cracks observed. The metal rim exhibits considerable tarnish and surface wear commensurate with its age and use.
